Bing Liem
Artist in Residence

Born in 1952 Surabaya, Indonesia, Bing Liem was raised in an artistic family and began drawing from early childhood. Combined with his interest in mathematics and science he pursued the field of architecture, which was his only formal training in drawing and drafting. Throughout his life, art has been an avenue to express his admiration of music, art, political role models, and his memories of cities he has visited through his worldly travels. Most recently, his creativity was sparked by his immersion into the arts community of San Francisco and his partnership with Taste of Talent where he has showcased several of his works, including his own dedicated Art Salon.

A versatile artist, he works with acrylic, oil, water color, pen and pencil, and his portraits depict famous singers, musicians, dancers, family and friends. Other works portray his medical profession as a heart rhythm specialist, with many commissioned works for medical journals and textbooks covers, as well as displays of medical devices.

His works are displayed in public places such as offices, apartment buildings, hospitals and in many homes of his friends and fans who admire his work. Bing works as a Clinical Professor of Medicine at University of California San Francisco and provides his services at San Francisco Veterans Administration Medical Center.
