In true Death by Aria tradition, step into our haunted house of music, where spellbinding arias, phantoms, and witches summon the night with our superstar cast including
mezzo-soprano Nikola Printz, soprano Maria Valdes, tenor Christopher Oglesby and oboist & tenor Jesse Rex Barrett. For this milestone year, the program plunges into the shadows with music from Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Verdi’s Macbeth, Handel’s Julius Cesar, and Leoncavallo’s tragic I Pagliacci. Journey further into the dark depths of the ocean with music that echoes the menacing power of the sea witch, alongside favorite witch songs and Kurt Weill’s menacing Pirate Jenny. As the ultimate offering, pianist and master of ceremonies Ronny Michael Greenberg offers his arrangement of Purcell’s haunting Dido’s Lament, a song that embodies Death By Aria at its core with the following question: If you knew you were going to die, and had one last chance to sing, what would it be?

Join Grammy Award winning internationally acclaimed countertenor Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen, baritone and cantor of Sherith Israel Simon Barrad, Elizabeth Castro Greenberg on violin and Ronny Michael Greenberg on piano for Taste of Talent’s season opener A Golden New Year celebrating Rosh Hashanah at the Century Club on Saturday September 20, 7:30pm!
This year’s program offers a fresh new blend of golden songs, uplifting and soulful melodies that echo the call of the shofar, from Yiddish and Sephardic song to traditional Jewish themes, from highlights of Canadian composer Srul Irving Glick’s Suite Hébraïque to Broadway, Handel and Glück opera, Soul, Jazz and genre-defying new arrangements. The evening also features Ronny Michael Greenberg’s premiere of Ladino song "Anyos de Oro", alongside classics like Golden Days, Golden Slumbers, Nature Boy, and Happy Days.
Included is a Dessert reception by Saul's Delicatessen, great wine, spiced apple sangria and honey cocktails. A Golden New Year promises an evening of renewal, sweetness, and joy, great wine, spiced apple sangria and honey cocktails. We look forward to celebrating with you!
